A Wedding at Home in Wisconsin – Mr & Mrs Aukee
If you’re considering having a wedding at home or in an intimate setting, get ready to take notes! This intimate wedding was so sweet. It was truly an honor to capture it.
I first met Haley on the soccer field while playing with on some adult leagues in the Appleton, WI area. The only thing I really knew about her was that she has the sweetest personality, could crush it on the soccer field, and played at Michigan Tech. Fast forward to when Haley reached out to me about photographing her and Cole’s wedding day. I was so excited to get to know her more and felt truly honored to document this big chapter in their lives.
Haley and Cole met on the ski team at Michigan Tech. Cole (along with his friends) will be quick to admit that Haley is a better skier. But the only thing that matters is that their paths crossed, leading them to this beautiful life they are building together.
I met Cole for the first time and had the chance to talk with Haley more at their engagement session. We chose to shoot at Fonferek Glen Falls in Green Bay, WI. Also, let’s not forget their three adorable dogs they brought along for the adventure. Fonferek Glen falls has beautiful fields, a waterfall (when there is lots of rain), and an area to hike down into the waterfall. It truly was a beautiful setting for a couple who loves to explore and go on adventures.
Their Intimate Wedding At Home
When it came to planning their wedding day, Haley shared that they couldn’t really find a venue they truly liked or felt like it fit their personalities and them as a couple. So, they decided, why not their own home?! They had recently bought the house with beautiful land surrounding it with tons of apple trees and just a place that truly felt like their own. Haley and the girls got ready with the help of Wellness 360 Health & Beauty Studio while Cole and the groomsmen hung out at an Airbnb just a mile up the road. Cole’s bowtie (with duck feathers!) was bought on Etsy and tied in with all of his unique details.
Family and friends gathered at their beautiful ceremony set up along their apple trees. Haley and Cole had nothing but big smiles as they said their vows to one another. Haley’s simple and elegant wedding gown was purchased from Lulu’s and tied in with her romantic long veil that her sister-in-law wore at her own wedding! All of the florals were design by one of their close friends, while Osario’s catering service set up underneath a tent on the other side of their yard for the reception. Homemade candle favors were ready for all of their guests to take home, and unique little parts of Haley & Cole’s story were around for everyone to see, between the adventure signs, their pups running around visiting with everyone, yard games and much more.
After the heartfelt speeches, music filled the sky while guests played yard games, danced, visited and enjoy Haley & Coles choreographed first dance! This night was one of the best nights, watching two people in love celebrate exactly how they wanted to celebrate. They made a wedding at home in Wisconsin look so elegant and special.
